Fact Checkers and the Entire Legacy Media are simply Propaganda for Oligarchs and Corporations

Of Course Snopes is Credible

Three Glaring Examples Proving Snopes and the AP Have No Business Being Official ‘Fact Checkers’

Snopes and the Associated Press have been given power over social media to define truth but they are often wrong and the consequences are grave.

While our readers are still smart enough to check multiple sources and keep us honest, the power of Snopes and the rest of the “fact checkers” has grown immensely and ominously. Now, Snopes, the AP, and Politifact have woven themselves into the fabric of social media and have become the be all end all of “truth.” As a result of this new cozy relationship, they have the power to silence anyone they deem to be false—facts and reality be damned.

What’s more, if these new arbiters of online truth do deem content to be “false,” whether it is or not, the victims have zero recourse to challenge them and will see social media reach—no matter if it took years to build up—throttled and subsequently turned off.

But they are doing a service to weed out fake news, right? While Snopes and the like certainly do debunk many fake stories, the idea of solely relying on them for the truth is chilling.

Case in point. Within the last month, Snopes and the Associated Press both claimed that articles we wrote were false when they clearly were not. As a result of their illegitimate claims, the Free Thought Project has watched our website traffic drop.

On June 8, Snopes attempted to claim that a story we wrote about Veterans on Patrol was false by claiming that we said this veterans group discovered a child trafficking camp in Tuscon, AZ. The only problem with this claim is that we never made it. The Free Thought Project merely reported on the activities of VOP and noted the possibility that this camp could also simply be a homeless camp. It’s why we used quotes in the title around “Child Trafficking Camp” because these were their words, not ours.

Nevertheless, thousands of Facebook users who shared our article received a notification that they had shared news that was determined to be false—when, in fact, it was not.

Fact Checkers: Who Watches the Watchmen?

Kermit Reporter and the Fact Checkers

Reston, VA – With the rise of the term “fake news,” many individuals have turned to self-proclaimed fact-checking sites like Snopes and PolitiFact; the objectivity of these sites tends to be questioned by conservatives as having a covert liberal bias.

On Tuesday, the conservative Media Research Center unveiled a new project entitled “Fact-Checking the Fact-Checkers,” which is designed to “ensure the fact-checkers themselves are reliable, or exposed as liberal partisans if they aren’t.”

The Media Research Center explained in its announcement:

Sometimes you have to check the fact-checkers.

More and more, major news outlets are relying on “fact checkers” to, allegedly, ensure that the news is factual, sources are reliable, and statements are accurate.

In theory, this is admirable. In practice, it has proven to be simply another opportunity for the media to push their leftist agenda.

Fact checking groups — such as PolitiFact — routinely cast judgments while failing to disclose their own left-wing bias. Their allies in the media try to cast these groups as neutral third parties when, in fact, they are card-carrying members of the liberal echo chamber.

It’s no wonder that the public has so little faith in the fact-checkers. A 2016 Rasmussen poll found that an astonishing 62% of American voters think the fact-check-ers are biased.

The Media Research Center is flipping the script on these faux-fact-checkers. It’s time to turn the tables and give the public the real facts.

Facebook Dumps ‘Fake News’ Patrol After Spectacular Backfire

Content originally published at iBankCoin.com

Facebook has abandoned it’s fake news ‘fact checkers‘ program to label articles reviewed by Snopes and Politifact as ‘disputed,’ after the program backfired a little over a year after inception.

The company pointed to a slowdown in news flow, the fact that stories were required to be deemed “false” before earning a “disputed” label, and because many people were instead drawn to clicking on the articles in question…

Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg says they are a technology company who doesn’t hire journalists – so, you know, whoops?

Several Facebook employees made a post on Medium detailing the change:

“In December of last year, we launched a series of changes to identify and reduce the spread of false news in News Feed:

  • We made it easier for people to report stories they think are false news
  • We partnered with independent fact-checking organizations that review articles that might be false
  • We reduced the distribution of articles disputed by fact-checkers
  • We launched a collection of features to alert people when fact-checkers have disputed an article, and to let people know if they have shared, or are about to share, false news”

EXCEPT…

Disputed flags could sometimes backfire: We learned that dispelling misinformation is challenging. Just because something is marked as “false” or “disputed” doesn’t necessarily mean we will be able to change someone’s opinion about its accuracy. In fact, some research suggests that strong language or visualizations (like a bright red flag) can backfire and further entrench someone’s beliefs.

The company will instead offer up alternative stories containing facts that have already been checked.

Perhaps Facebook also realized that Snopes – run by a bunch of degenerates, has a long history of liberal bias? Last year they were dressed down by the Daily Caller in a fascinating Exposé – featuring evidence of Snopes’ liberal bias, several instances of flat out lies, and insight into the individual opinions of the militantly liberal fact checkers who love insulting conservatives.

Let’s also remember that Snopes co-founder David Mikkelson, pictured above to the left of the morbidly obese cat – cheated on wife Barbara Mikkelson with the literal prostitute and Snopes administrator pictured in the frame below; taking her on expensive vacations around the world using (allegedly) embezzled Snopes funds while banging her like a steel drum. He then married her despite the fact that she had a website devoted to being a whore and is “past her time as an adult model.”

Meanwhile, Politifact is riddled with propaganda. They are incredibly biased, funded by a Clinton Foundation donor, and not even close to being qualified to sit on an exclusive panel of Facebook “FAKE NEWS” judges.

Worst. Thought police. Ever.
